Savings
After years of procrastination and laziness, I finally opened a savings account that has a better interest rate than the .05% that my Bank of America account. My Charles Schwab checking account gets double that rate... And that comes with free checking and free ATM withdrawals (with reimbursements)! I love the convenience of digital deposits and immediately transfers to my brokerage accounts!
Now, you can get an online savings account with much higher returns. While there are numerous companies you may sign off, I chose the British known Barclays. It has .9% APY! It is also compatible to Mint.com! (That was a significant factor)
Having an account for solely "savings" is suppose to encourage more saving. I wonder if that'll help me. But the FDIC only covers up to $250k. I may need hundreds of accounts to cover all my savings, of course.
What bank accounts do you live by?
Next financial undertaking... Get an American Express card. Which is the best...
