SimulView: End of Split Screen?

With 3D technology coming in to the common household, it's going to be tough to see if it's going to be mainstream or just a feature to add to the long list of things people don't need/use. But Sony may have found a reason to help the cause of 3D technology. That technology is called SimulView.
Using the 3D technology, Sony has created a method of creating two different screen based on the prospective. Of course each individual screen will only be in 2D though. This is probably the best use of 3D I have seen for video games so far. This could end the split screen for video games forever for 2 players. But the screen size for 4 player split screen games can double with this technology.
What else would I like to see be used with technology. This may be asking for too much but how about watching movies in two different perspectives? I know this would be crazy since the double amount of work would have to be done. But you have to it admit, it would be cool! Maybe for sports events, different views of the event. Since they have those cameras running already, why not broadcast it? NBC for Sunday Night Football streamed the game with multiple camera views to choose from. Why couldn't companies use this SimulView technology to broadcast two perspectives?
