Speed
Today I had the "opportunity" of "skiing" at Mount Sunapee. I discovered I hate the feeling of going fast (without complete control) even more than before.
This entire aspect of speed is odd for me since I loved playing all the "Need for Speed" game. I guess that transition doesn't really apply...
Is it built into someone to enjoy the "sensation" of going quickly? Or is it developed by experiencing it? Children were flying on the slopes ten times faster than me. I just hate not being able to control the speed. For skiing, I can run into children and stationary trees (opposed to the moving ones). For roller-coasters, I can't hit the brakes; I also hate the feeling of falling. I've been fortunate to have zero broken bones. I would like to keep it that way (especially after hearing, reading, and seeing people's experiences of their bone breaking).
Maybe I'll learn how to love the feeling of going fast just like how I learned to love the taste of 99.9% of the food.
