Sports Recap
Since today is Sunday, it's a great time to recap sports and give my opinion on it.
Let's start with UConn Football... What is there to say? It is awfully weird seeing The Rent on television. Seeing a loss at home is even more devastating, maybe UConn should send me there (I'm lucky, and it would be fun). But seriously, UConn needs to work on the quarterback situation, whether improving Johnny Mac's decision making or trying a new qb. Again, the defense still looks great.
Now on to bigger news than just UConn, conference realignment:
I will give the prospective as a UConn fan. Syracuse and Pittsburgh probably left for no other reason than money. I don't see any other reason to ruin such a great basketball conference. I wouldn't mind if UConn joined the ACC. It may give UConn a true rival in a school like Boston College, since we don't have one right now. But that would mean leaving great or growing basketball schools like Georgetown, Villanova, St. Johns, Marquette, West Virginia, Louisville, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, and Providence (Yeah, think about leaving that group!). And you'll be gaining UNC, Duke, Florida State, Clemson, BC, and Virginia Tech. Looking at the other sports like Field Hockey, Soccer, Lacrosse, the conferences are very similar. UConn will take a hit in Women's Basketball losing Rutgers and Notre Dame.
So summing it up, UConn moving to the ACC
-Pros: Potential Rival, Bigger Football Conference (Chance to beat Edsall), May face Duke/UNC
-Cons: Leaving a potentially stronger basketball (Men's and Women's) conference
Overall: UConn won't lose too much going to the ACC. UConn will be doing what some UConn fans scolded Boston College for doing. It would almost kill the rest of the basketball in the Big East though.
Boxing: Mayweather, that was not cool! Larry Merchant and Mayweather probably had one of the funniest interviews I have ever seen!
