Step By Step

Have you ever wondered how many steps you take a day? Well, that's what a pedometer is for. At work, they are having a walking club where for the next 9 weeks participants record the number of steps taken. What a great health program! It even comes with rewards for certain number of steps. Looking at the number of steps you took is a great indicator for how much activity you do.
Today was the first day! And just guess the number of steps I took at work today? I got a whopping 714 steps at work. For those who don't know how many steps that is, it's not much at all. I was at my desk most of the day though. I really need to get up more often, sitting down for hours will be the death of me. With that said, I really need to make up for the lack of physical activity away from work.
So I went for a short jog and shot a basketball for a bit. Now I'm over 8200 steps for the day! From what I have read online, it is suggested to get 10,000 steps daily. So I'll have to pick it up!
What better way to improve my health than with fellow employees? It's always great to have support in doing something like this. People will ask about how many steps I have taken, and I won't want to disappoint. With this and my competitive nature, I will certainly do more activity than before. I will be become healthier! And become faster, stronger, better!
Has anyone used the Fitbit, Jawbone Up, or the Nike Fuel Band? I'm considering those products to get even more information about my daily activity. I'm leaning towards the Fitbit.
Want to join in my quest for better health? Want to compete against the number of steps I get? Well here's your chance! You can feel like a kid again by pretending your pedometer is a Tamagotchi! Here is the Google Doc where I will be recording my steps: My Step Tracker! (For your convenience I have added a link on the top of the page) So share your numbers with me! (My competitive nature will want to destroy your numbers!)
