Superbowl XLVII

Today is the day of Superbowl XLVII (47 for does who can't read Roman Numerals. I wonder how many people can't...). Superbowl is like New Years in which that everyone seems to have plans to watch it usually at a party environment And every year, millions of people around this globe will watch this one game and it is expected that over 110 million people will view the Superbowl this year. And a large percentage of them will only be interested in the commercials while others will only tune in for the halftime show to watch Beyonce perform (with a Destiny's Child reunion). Others will be hoping for a mistake during the National Anthem from Alicia Keys as they grip their betting ticket tightly. One of the more emotional moments will definitely be when Jennifer Hudson performs America the Beautiful with children of Sandy Hook Elementary.
With the number of viewers expected to increase this year, it is no surprise that a 30-second commercial spot is costing $4 million. And those companies are teasing the audience with advertisements through the Internet which in turn leads to hitting the public media. So the millions of dollars is worth/lasts much more than 30-seconds, if done intelligently; Mercedes-Benz has certainly done that with Kate Upton.
With the combination of having only one championship game and the stoppage of play that no other sport has, the NFL has an advertising monster. And it's not even just this one Sunday though, the demand of the sport is ridiculous since it's only play mainly on just Sundays which isn't done in majority of the sports (you have racing does does this. I don't think the expansion of football to other days, like Thursday, is going to help the sport especially because of the availability of the NFL Network and the convenience for fantasy football players. Major sporting championship games are usually decided by a multiple game series (NBA, NHL, MLB) and if they're not (soccer), there isn't enough stoppage of play to have plenty of commercial real-estate. The demand for TV time during the Superbowl is unmatched by anything else because of those factors. And that's not even the publicity that the NFL gets for the two weeks prior to the Superbowl. I know I've had heard enough enough of the Har-bowl. The Superbowl has been mention in this blog for two years running, that's when you know the event is significant.
But enough about the NFL's money making business, I'm sure you're here is see my prediction since I correctly predicted the conference games and Superbowl XLVI last year. While I admit I didn't predict John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens to make, it wasn't posted on this blog. I did pick the 49ers to make it though especially with Colin "Skeeter" Kaepernick at the QB position and not Alex Smith. And the victors of Superbowl XVII will be the Baltimore Ravens and the team and their fans will be ecstatic that Ray Lewis will retire as a Superbowl Champion.
