That Time of the Year

So it's the holiday season and the year is about to end and the start of 2012 is abound. With the end of year comes "best of" and "worst of" lists. Time's Person of the Year was announced today. The person is "The Protester". I fully understand the decision to put protesters to this recognition because of Occupy Wall Street, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain, Spain, Greece, and many more. But protester have been making an impact in this world for the longest time.
You may or may not know, but you were recognized as Time's Person of the Year in 2006. Yes, "You" won the award! Awarded for the creation of the Internet's content. While Mark Zuckerberg won last year for Facebook, having over 700 million users creating a unbelievably large social network.
The award has had some more outrageous winners though. Planet Earth won in 1988 as "The Endangered Earth". The computer won in 1982. Who didn't know computer, what a great guy. He knew me like I programmed him. Baby Boomers won in 1966 and the middle Americans in 1969.
Adding some political talk, a certain potential Republican candidate for President won in 1993. The man is Newt Gingrich. But most of the winners have been politicians or government figures including whistleblowers.
