The Leeroy Theory
As Friday night arrived last night, our group seemed to be in store for a low key night. As with many memorable nights, there were no expectations at the start. I started the night with creating a golfer on EA's Tiger Woods video game. He's going to be the best golfer in the world in no time like Lexi Peters in NHL 2012. Then our friends, Outback and The New Yorker, came over and played Super Mario Strikers. None of these things were omens for what was to come.
Scott wanted to go to a local bar for the night but the Doppelgänger didn't feel like it. Scott's response was that he already dressed and they had to go; that was enough to convince the Doppelgänger to go. The rest of us weren't as easily convinced until Scott said he would buy rounds if everyone came. So we went to the nearby bar where a live band was playing; they weren't anything special. The time at the bar was filled with great conversation! We were there until close but Outback didn't leave the bar without getting wet; the Doppelgänger was attempting a move that is only for the strong-minded but knocked over a beer all over Outback. That was just the start of the night...
After arriving to our apartment, we realized we had yet to turn in our rent for the month. Being responsible renters, the Doppelgänger ran to the apartment office to turn in our checks for the month. While Scott waited for him to get back from the office on our balcony, he helped a car that was attempting a back up parking job by directing from above. Being two friendly females, they started conversation with Scott precisely when the Doppelgänger came running in; it was one of the ladies' 25th birthday! Since it was cold outside, they came up to our apartment to continue conversation. As usual, the two females thought we were younger than our actual age.
The topic of conversation increased in deepness between Scott and the Birthday girl while I put music on our television. Being an insane fluid dancer to any type of music, the Doppelgänger instantly brought out his moves. The other female (let's call her Cougar because of her aggressiveness and other reasons...) joined him on the "dance floor" of our living room. I haven't seen Dirty Dancing but I imagine that their dancing was very similar; Cougar even created a dance named "The Poo Spreader"! Things led to other things and after one attempted cock-block (Scott tried his best to prevent it), a boy got off the bus and became a man with "The Belt". After the Doppelgänger the belt, there was much yelling about various things including locating keys, using other people's sink after certain activities, and other absurd things. The ridiculousness of the night cannot be encapsulated with my words very well. It's the morning/afternoon after and the Doppelgänger still feels flithy. His life will never be the same; he has gone to where many dream to be, but it was unfortunate for him (he feels like he aged 15 years). I'm not sure showers and laundry will be sufficient.
Overall there were many things to be learned from the night.
1. The New Yorker is now "The Blitz"
2. Scott learned the entire life story of the Birthday Girl including possible deep secrets.
3. The Doppelgänger checked out many items in his Bucket List.
4. The Leeroy Theory was tested once again and proven to be true again. The Leeroy Theory is when you expect a night to be "low key", a ridiculous night will ensue. But the vice versa is also true, when people expect a night to be extremely exciting, the night turns out to be uneventful.
5. Once again, life is spontaneous and it is beautiful.
