The Rise of Friendsgiving
Friendsgiving. It's basically Thanksgiving with your friends. I'm not sure whether it has been popular with generations before us but I have only heard of it within the past few years. And the concept of Friendgiving has been on the rise.
Friendsgiving solves the conflict between celebrating the holiday with friends or family. This is especially true for twenty-somethings who don't have families of their own. I also see it as a possible transition from no responsibility for a dinner meal to the responsibility of bringing one dish to Friendsgiving. This would ease the natural progression to cooking entire Thanksgiving meal when or if ones chooses to when they are more mature. It is an opportunity to slowly develop into mature adults.
I was jubilant to have had attended a Friendsgiving over the weekend with delicious food. Of course, I brought the celebratory (and obligatory) ice cream cake.
Will you be celebrating Friendsgiving?
