Things Engineers Like: Asking Why

At the end of any meeting/seminar with engineers, you are sure to find someone with a question or two. The question could be directly related or could be extremely loosely related to the subject discussed. As engineers, it is only natural to ask why something is the way it is. Why does X do Y and not Z? The best part about this is that other engineers are more than willing to tell a story (sometimes completely unnecessarily long and drawn out) to explain the current conditions.
Curiosity killed the cat but it lives in every single engineer. This is the foundation of how problems are found and eventually solved. Sometimes the curiosity goes beyond what is necessary and gets in the way; I feel this pretty often! But it's great to grow the garden in your mind! Knowledge is an awesome thing and go explore everything!
