Time To Shock The World!

Four years ago, China amazed the world with their Olympic Opening Ceremony. With it costing over $100 million and having citizens ready to show the world what they had, they put on a spectacular show for the world to see. Last night, it was London's turn; this time London had nothing to prove but had to follow up one astonishing ceremony put on by China. The world knows all about Great Britain and all of its rich history. The beginning with the Industrial Revolution was pretty impressive. But I felt the rest of the ceremony was quite dull (Maybe hyped it too much because of four years ago). I understand that it was all about Britain and its culture. But I think with a basic knowledge of British history, I didn't really learn anything new and wasn't surprised by much. I thought the seven young athletes with the final torch lighters were great especially after days of speculation.
Now let the games begin! I was excited to get up early in the morning on this beautiful Saturday morning! I wake up and immediately pick up my Nexus 7 (WOOT!), immediately launching the Olympic app to watch. And there it was... Badminton! I love the game of badminton and hope to be an Olympian for it in 2016 (I want to thank you UConn for introducing the sport to me in a class). The dream starts now... No, it'll have to wait till after the games. But once that time comes, I will shock the world of badminton!
I love the Olympics because it only comes once every four years (well, every two...). The best part about the Olympics is seeing sports that you never usually get to watch unless you really go out of your way to. My favorites include badminton, handball, gymnastics, volleyball, ping-pong (table tennis), and of course tennis (but that's a mainstream sport). It's always interesting to hear what some of these athletes do besides playing their sports since some of them can't live off the sport. It'll be great to watching swimming today and track and field in the future but I don't think I had to state that since those are a given.
Good luck to all the athletes! Special shout out to the UConn Huskies in the Olympics!
GO USA!
It's almost time for me to concentrate on:
