Triple Threat
So I experienced the air travel triple threat yesterday! It all started great by making my early flight at 7 in the morning. It was looking good since I was going to be in Fort Wayne by 1.
It went all downhill from there. My flight to Fort Wayne was cancelled, apparently for reasons that representatives couldn't figure out. So I was put on a flight to Chicago then another flight to Fort Wayne scheduled to land at 6...
I get on the flight to Chicago to only have to be forced to check in my backpack since everyone and their mothers bring huge carry on baggage. And people have the nerve to put both their carry ons AND their jacket in the overhead bin!
So I get to Chicago and have a relaxing meal as I have tons of time on my second layover. I casually wait at the gate and they need three people to volunteer to take later flights as they were oversold. And turns out that for other flights near my gate were also in oversold situations. I found it ridiculous especially since multiple of representatives were on the speakers at the same time.
FYI: Watching "Her" was awkward watching at the airport...
I thought I was going to be at Fort Wayne on time since we boarded on time, but I was overly optimistic. We had to wait for the plane to be defrosted and it took over a hour... It was a short lake hop and only water and orange juice was served.
After the quick flight, I was more than excited to head home. But of course it wasn't going to be that simple. I waited at baggage claim and get my checked in suitcase. The announcement that all bags have been loaded off. My carry on that had to be checked in at the gate in Philly was missing... I never had bags gone missing before.
I got a call today and my backpack was in Central Wisconsin... All my stuff I needed for the weekend was not here... My Valentine's Day Weekend was ruined!
Lessons learned here: Expect bags to go missing so if you have to check something in, take anything important out. Expect delays and cancellations (12 cancellations/delay this year so far).
Oh yeah, the airline was US Airways, now owned by American Airlines, now part of the One World Alliance.
So let me propose you this question: Is American Airlines worse than any other airlines? Or is it word of mouth of negativity that makes it seem that one airline is worse than the others?
