UConn Final Four
You've probably already heard that the UConn Huskies have stamped their ticket to the Final Four in both the men's and women's NCAA Tournament (that's the fourth time that has happened since 2004; seventh straight for the women). It's hard to deny that Storrs, Connecticut is the College Basketball Capital of the World.
While it's exciting for Husky fans all over the country, being a student is a distinct experience. I was fortunate to travel to two Final Fours while attending UConn (2009 Detroit/2011 Houston). Since you only have limited number of years as a student at college, I would highly recommend every student to try to make the trip. It is one of the most extravagant sporting events of the year and your school is taking part.

Ford Field, Detroit, MI- 2009

Reliant Stadium, Houston, TX- 2011
The entire experience is spectacular. You wait in line with the students of the other three teams who are just as devoted college basketball fans. While waiting in line outside of Gampel Pavilion has it's own magically atmosphere, waiting for the Final Fours is like no other. The anticipation is as high as it gets and you must make sure you get a pleasant seat to watch the games. Since it is basketball being played in a football stadium, there WILL be terrible seats. There is a distinguished feeling about running in an empty football stadium to reserve that seat then, of course, taking pictures. Once you have your seat, the hard part is over and now you can fully enjoy your time. Sport figures start entering the stadium (e.g. sport writers, commentators, and of course athletes) having conversations with students and having a constant photo op. Luckily, the UConn student section was on the side of the television set on both of my trips. But then the games start, you realize this just another game, and you cheer as hard as you can. But everything that surrounds the game is impressive. (Seeing your friends cry when your team wins the National Championship is another reason to make the trip)
For the students out there, you probably won't get another opportunity to attend such an event in your lifetime. And at the incredibly low price (~$40) for the two semifinal games and the national championship game, you have an amazing deal. And with the festivities that include performances from major artists (this year includes Bruce Springsteen, The Killers, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, and more), the price of the flights/hotel is completely worth it.

Look at young Shabazz Napier taking silly pictures from his iPad.

And the man taking victory sips after leading his team to the championship.
Let's Go Huskies!
