Up In The Air
Most of the time, I don't attempt to relate to movies that I watch. But last night, I couldn't help myself relating directly to how George Clooney's character, Ryan Bringham, felt in Up In The Air. No, I have never had the dreadful duty of letting people go from their jobs but I understand the life of the traveling employee. While I never had a relationship like Clooney's character had, I completely understand the shallow satisfaction of earning miles, points, and any other loyalty benefits. There is no doubt that they are nice to have but they are so insignificant; yes, the free checked bag is a great benefit but is getting in a plane full of stale air a couple minutes sooner really an advantage?
It is definitely strange how you develop routines while on travel just like you would at home: the way you check in for your flights, get your rental, check in at the hotel. And film portrayed how meaningless "home" can be when you're on travel constantly especially since you're basically living in your suitcase still.
