Upgrade

Most people sleep for about a third of their day so it makes sense that sleeping well can make or break your entire life. While the past few years I have average about four to five hours of sleep a night with the occasional nap, I do love sleeping. Since I do sleep so little, each hour (or minute) is critical in energizing and relaxing. Last week I decided to upgrade my life a bit in order to improve my sleep quality so my HP is as high as possible when I wake up. So I bought a pillow!
Last month, I want to mattress and pillow store (Sleep Number by Select Comfort) while hunting for a pillow. I was immediately overwhelmed by what I saw; they had a process for creating your pillow. First you pick the outer shell, then a inner core to put into the first layer, then a pillowcase; in which all the each option for each layer had ridiculous facts, including being woven with pure silver. The sales representation recommended me to try multiple combinations but I felt it was too expensive and intense for me at that moment (not to mention not very hygienic).
Since I'm not very picky with no allergies, I didn't need the pillow case that was woven with pure silver and decided to just buy a pillow on Amazon. And I ended up with a Pinzon Pyrenees Hypoallergenic White Down Support Pillow, an Amazon.com exclusive, by just going with the reviews. In fact, this down pillow is as nice as the reviewers state and similar to many hotel pillows. I probably sleep better than most babies!
What I don't like in pillows is those plush memory foam pillows. I find them to be too firm for me and offer extremely awkward support; it's almost impossible to sleep on your back with them. Maybe it's just that my opinion on memory foam for sleep has be diminished a combination of terrible dormitory mattresses (if you can call them that) and the cheap memory foam layer I bought to put on top of the mattress.

Well, the next logical step is to upgrade my mattress but it is very costly (think Sleep Number). Maybe I'll forgo the entire idea of a mattress and sleep on the ground. It is much more stable and firm. Or I can buy a bracelet to tell me how my sleep performance is...
Long story, short: What you sleep on is important. And for those in the Northeast, I hope you have great bedding since you'll probably sleep more this weekend with the increased possibility of not have power (and it's safer to sleep than to have candles lit to guide into the night). And it's probably illegal for you to drive to get one now. But if you don't feel like sleeping, I would recommend saving all of my previous blog posts (>500 of them) to a portable device so you can catch up if you haven't already! It should be enough entertainment for a few hours! (XML of blog available upon request!)
