Upstate New York
Similarly to the entire state of Ohio, when you mention upstate New York, You will get an "oh..." response. It's like the only thing in New York is the the city; it's not even the capital (Albany is). So I drove over eight hours to find some beautiful sights upstate.
The first stop came after getting up right after the sun rise, and it was to Corning, NY named after Erastus Corning (not the glass company). Speaking of the Corning glass company, that was the reason I was in town, to visit the Corning Museum of Glass (or CMoG). It was well worth the price of admission; there were history, art, and technology lessons throughout the exhibit. It is ridiculous how glass has been used throughout history. And if I had my time I would have had made my own glass work there. The museum is worth going to if you're in the area!
Then, I took a "short" trip to Watkins Glen State Park to see the positive reviewed sights. And I was certainly not disappointed by the waterfalls.
Then it another "short" drive to the Taughannock Falls in Trumansburg, NY. While not as long as the previous waterfalls, it is definitely a higher waterfall; about 212 feet high.
I had an oopportunity to visit Cornell and Ithaca's downtown. It's very similar to Providence but much less crowded; and maybe even more hilly.
It was horrendous hot outside today too. I'm ready to start tomorrow's adventure!
P.S. I will post more pictures from my camera after the trip is over.
