V-Day
Needless to say, you probably know it's Valentine's Day on Friday. Well, if you didn't, now you do! For those in a relationship and didn't know, you are very welcome. I forgot to get one of those girlfriends once again, continuing my lifetime streak! But before you make any assumptions, I'm not one of those single people who rages war against the Valentine's Day. Though it has interrupted my NPR listening on WBUR since they frequently disturb their regular programming in order to advertise their annual Winston Flowers fundraiser.
I also am not an avid fan of the Valentine's Day as it does seem extremely forced. It's a lazy way to romance which I think should be ever constant and special occasions are better left more spontaneous. But I'll let you decide since you most likely have more experience in relationships than me.
I wonder how dating statistics differ during this week compared to others. Are more people less willing to start dating someone just before Valentine's Day to avoid any awkwardness/pressure or does the atmosphere that comes with the love holiday encourage an increased number of dates?
But everyone, single or not, has something to celebrate on February 14th this year! And of course it's the release of season two of House of Cards! And of course, the Winter Olympics continue!
Funny story: During a meeting last week, people were trying to figure out if February 14th was good for the next meeting. I swear I heard someone say "That's D-Day!" and almost bursted out laughing. Just maybe my ears have a feud against V-Day.
