What I Learned Today!

So I learned quite a bit from working with kids today. I am volunteering with a group of kids in middle school with a project about renewable energy. So they are researching about the many diverse energy sources.
One of the children, used the Google search bar to search "google". Then he proceeds to clicks the first result "www.google.com". Then he searches for his entire question in Google expecting all of his questions to be answered. I expected much more from children going up with the internet similarly to myself. All of the children also typed everything with their two index fingers. Which also surprised me. One child actually commented on my quick typing. I'm really glad my father knew that computers were the future and forced me to type out novels when I was younger. It really prepared me for success and the great speed in which I type now.
Then, they got to play Sim City. Building their cities as best as possible. All of the children didn't mind taking up as much money from loans as possible. Leading to crazy amounts of alerts about their terrible monthly budgets for the children to just click "Continue" without reading them. What memories this brought to me. I was more of the original "The Sims" game, but I slightly played Sim City until the horrid natural disasters destroyed all of my hard work. At the end of the time playing, they had to save. I told the kid to click the floppy disc to save. He said "What's a floppy disc?". Oh how times have changed, and how I am aging so quickly.
I thought the children didn't use technology as much as I originally thought. Then on cue, I took out my cell phone for a quick second to see if I got any messages; Instantly one of the children goes "HTC phone right?". This was ridiculously impressive or just really lucky because I have a Otterbox case on my phone.
