What is there left?

So today was the beginning of March Madness or as the NCAA likes to call it, the second round. The day began so well going something like 7 for 7 on my picks. Then the misery began to creep up on me starting with VCU playing a great full court press on Wichita State, ending up with the upset. A few minutes later, Baylor started to get destroyed by the South Dakota State but that one turned out to be fine at the end.
Then, the only game that matter to me the most, UConn/Iowa State began. And let's just say it did not begin well at all. Well, they didn't play consistent at all. They have their spurts, if you can call them that. But UConn got within 6 (I think) in the second half but did not come any closer. Iowa State outplayed UConn the entire game and they were definitely the better team tonight.
So with that loss, I have no chance of winning my bracket tournament. Yes, I put my hopes and dreams on this young and talented team. Even though they didn't show it very well, if everyone returns next year, they will be a force to be reckoned with (Assuming someone will step up to be a leader).
What do I do now? Do I even watch the tournament with no motivation for rooting for any team? Isn't that the point of sports, to root for a team? Maybe I'll go with the underdogs every game. OR I could watch the games purely for the sport and admire the skill and talent on the court.
Having so much pride in a school and team makes it difficult after a loss. What can you say but that the other team outplayed us and they deserved the win? But I would never sacrifice my spirit for anything; it has brought me too many good memories and much more positive emotions than negative ones. How many people can say they witnessed their team win a National Championship in person in their senior year? Not many and I was in the front row! I guess I had to think there was no way up from there.
So since 80% of my wardrobe consists of UConn apparel (mostly free tshirts for being the best fan ever) I will continue to wear my UConn gear proudly. I may get remarks from people on it but I'm proud to be a UConn Husky. It's still tough getting over a loss. It's even worse being the guy on TV that they show because you have your head down and look shocked/depressed (It happens to everyone right? Multiple times for me including the Final Four game in 2009). Then, the text messages come in, just to rub it your face your team lost, because the loss wasn't enough. But with sports, there's always next year right?! And as a UConn Husky, we have the women to root for too! This year is our year!
UConn Husky Forever!
P.S. At least I bowled pretty well tonight! I got a 200! Woot!
