Win #1

The weather looked cloudy and uncertain to begin the day. The clouds were hanging low with threatening dark grey spots. Checked the weather at 7 am, rain predicted at game time (noon). Checked it at 8 am, heavy thunderstorms at noon. The future looked gloomy for the highly anticipated wiffleball game between the Wafflers and Grimm's Reaper. But with the wait time decreasing minute by minute, it certainly looked like the rain would hold out in beautiful Fort Wayne, IN.
Noon comes around and the weather is... extremely light drizzle. It's game time! The Wafflers lose the coin toss this time. So it's all up to me to come up with something for the team so we can get to a quick start (Something we didn't do last game). I'm more patient than the game before and bam! I hit a single. And it begins! The Wafflers' bats were on fire, similar to what happens in MLB Slugfest. By the end of three innings, the Wafflers were leading by the score of 19-0 and the game was forced to a stop by the mercy rule. The Grimm's Reaper team were a pleasure to play and had great sportsmanship (They even had a mascot, the Grim Reaper).
This was a complete turnaround by the Wafflers from the last game. Once a team that couldn't get a single hit, now a team that could not be stopped! Two of the five players had a total of five home-runs scoring nine runs for the Wafflers. I had a perfect game today batting with a solo home-run! I batted 1.000! Woot! Everyone had an outstanding game batting with endless singles. Masterbowler seemed to hit a home run at each at bat, ending the game with four home-runs including a grand-slam. Pitching by Scott was spectacular and was backed up with great fielding by the others.
While the Wafflers' performance was tremendous, they have to quickly look forward to the next game especially with this intense schedule for the tournament. They will be facing the Melting Pot, who had a devastating overtime loss against The Motts Factor (due to the controversial overtime rule of the team with the first run wins). The Melting Pot has the potential and experience to dominate the game but the Wafflers will put up a good fight. And if the same fiery bats show up on Monday like they did today, the Melting Pot doesn't stand a chance. Should be a great game between the red hot Wafflers and the cooled down Melting Pot on Monday.
And remember to stay tuned here for the most up-to-date news on the Wafflers.
