If you have several minutes to spare, you should watch the video above. If you don't have that much time, start around the half way point. I have always wondered about the future of skilled trades and the decline of those people; it has been implanted in the younger generations that hard physical labor isn't the path to being successful. It was embedded that passion and a good education would lead to a successful career where you only need to use the knowledge you've learned. But, of course, this is not the case.
There has to be skilled workers that will build things like the Hyperloop; people that make the engineering happen. As an engineer, I know I wouldn't want most of my engineering friends to actually build my hypothetical house; I would prefer someone that actual works in the field.
And let's admit it, we're killing ourselves by sitting down at a desk for hours at a time.
