Work Microwaves

Recently, a new microwave was brought into my work area by a very charitable co-worker. Unlike the previous microwave from the 80s, this one beeps. I know that it makes a beeping sound at a specific interval (similarly to those darn smoke detectors with low battery) if it is attended to after cooking; and it seems like everyone just leaves their food cooking for long periods of time.

And frequently, it's popcorn being microwaved... The popcorn smell fills up the work area almost instantly. Personally, I'm not a fan of popcorn scent even with my weak sense of smell. I think there should be a workplace law where popcorn cannot be brought in; it would be similar to how hotels and other public places in Asia don't allow durian fruit. I mean, what type of person eats popcorn outside of viewing television/movies/sports?! Criminals! Just like those people who eat cotton candy outside of carnivals/festivals.
