Year Two.

Around this time last year, I bought the www.MatthewTWHuang.com domain. I was influenced by a proposal from a great friend whom I attended to visit during that Labor Day weekend. At the time, I was on the 9/80 schedule (Where I work 80 hours in 9 days in order to have every other Friday off) so I had a four-day weekend to visit Philadelphia. The suggestion was to document the weekend trip for fun (mostly as a joke). As the story goes, I did chronicle the journey but that was just the beginning...
A year later, I am still writing on this site. This has been a 366-day (It's been an effin' leap year) adventure for me. In the beginning, I wrote every couple days. With more readers and more feedback, I increased the frequency of posts to about one per day. I never really explained the reasons I continued to write here. It is certainly not to describe my original ideas to people for people to steal (That's just plain dumb). It's not to entertain people with my variety of topics (many of each don't interest the majority). With the world emphasizing the significance of money, fame, and negativity, this blog can be seen as a getaway from all that. I am continually learning what is truly important in one's life through my own personal experience, so why not share what may help benefit others? I am in no way suggesting there is one right way to live but just depicting my prospective. One aspect I try to stick to is being positive constantly.
But most importantly, this blog is for me. Yes, I know, it's selfish. This is my one and only journal where I like to write about things I wouldn't normally write about. This blog is to help improve my communication skills through writing and expressing my thoughts in general. Writing has become such a routine that it's not a regular day without writing a post. It gives me a time when I can just think freely and relax. It's to keep my family and friends informed of my life through tales and thoughts. As an added benefit, I have something I can look back on in the future. And with this, I should be would be able to avoid the dreaded "What have you been up to?" question and promptly respond with "Read my blog at MatthewTWHuang.com" or "Don't you read my blog?".
This has been a great first year and I know many great things are to come! In the past year I've done many things for the first time, grew as a person, and met many great people.
P.S. I'm going to take credit for the inspiration of the creation of a few blogs including No Instructions Included and Bedtime Stories for my Saber Tooth Tiger. While they may not be as committed to writing as I am, I genuinely enjoyed (most of) their posts.
