Yet Another Missing Flight
An AirAsia flight goes missing. This is the second flight carrying a significant number of people this year that has gone missing (Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 with a record 239 people missing. Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was missing but was later found to be shot down by a SAM); this time with 162 people on the flight. It's hard to believe how an Airbus A320 can just go missing from radar and other technology in today's systems without knowing where the plane actually went down. Maybe the international integration of air traffic systems is not where they should be. Though, the AirAsia flight from Surabaya, Indonesia to Singapore is only about 2.5 hours; to put that into perspective, that is about the same distance from Chicago to New York.
I guess we won't know what happened until the plane is found. Hopefully the crew and passengers return safely and can describe what happened. If AirAsia Flight QZ8501 is not found, it'll be the second highest person total for a missing flight, adding the total for 2014 to Malaysia Airline Flight 370.
